Where is Your Green Thumb? Spring is Here!

Spring is here, and we are ready to see the beautiful greens not only outside our house but inside as well. Plants make our homes feel more alive and vibrant.

In this blog, we will walk you through choosing planters and share some of our favorites!

SELECTING THE RIGHT PLANTS

Assess your home’s lighting before purchasing plants. Consider lowlight plants if your home lacks natural light or is surrounded by trees/buildings. The range of varieties for each species is vast; there are over 70 types of snake plants (Sansevieria) alone! Needless to say, this can be an overwhelming step in the process, so lean on those who know plants best. Chat with the pros at your local plant shops, I guarantee they will be excited to help.

FINDING THE PERFECT POTS

Whenever possible, source pots locally at plant shops, or check out your local vintage shop for unique pieces with tons of character. Another tip is to browse on Facebook marketplace when people move!

PRO-TIP: Make sure to know what size container your plant requires, as some plants need room to grow! You can ask your local plant shop these questions.

REMINDERS

  • Make sure your pot has drainage if the plant calls for it (which most do!)

  • Make sure you place a plastic holder underneath your pot so the water draining out doesn’t ruin your beautiful floors! We love these clean and modern ones from Amazon.

Plants contribute a lot of positive energy to my spaces, so my home is FILLED with them! I let go of perfection. 80% of my plants are thriving and 20% look sad, and that’s okay with me. It’s a representation of life and it’s ups and downs.

Start with one plant, and test out how it alters your space and how its needs match your schedule. You don’t have to rush into being a plant owner, start small and build from there. If you aren’t able to care for plants or have another conflict (pets, allergies, etc.), there are faux options too!
